Relocation of Mehtimäki artificial grass for reuse in Koillispuisto — sustainable sports field construction.
Project Description
We were involved in implementing the renovation of the Koillispuisto artificial grass in Joensuu. Our scope in the project included the removal of the Koillispuisto and Mehtimäki artificial grass, as well as the reinstallation of the Mehtimäki artificial grass in Koillispuisto.
The project began with the removal of the old artificial grass in Koillispuisto. Once the old mat was removed and the base leveled, we proceeded to dismantle the artificial grass installed at Mehtimäki in 2016. We relocated this still good-condition artificial grass for reuse in Koillispuisto.
During the reinstallation, shock pads were installed under the artificial grass to improve playing characteristics and, above all, player safety. New infill was also added to the pitch, and at the end of the installation, the entire field was brushed and maintained thoroughly.
By relocating the old Mehtimäki artificial grass to Koillispuisto, we extended the lifecycle of the old artificial grass by several years, which saves both the client's resources and the environment.
